Story
I've been running, on and off, for a few years now and have taken part in full and half marathons. I've not ran in a while, however, and I see the Edinburgh Marathon Relay as the perfect motivator to get my running shoes back on.
I'll be updating this page regularly in the lead up to the Marathon Relay sharing the highs and lows of my training runs!
Alongside benefiting my physical and mental health, I'll be benefiting a charity that I support and work for - Cyrenians.
Cyrenians tackles the causes and consequences of homelessness here in Edinburgh and surrounding areas. They provide direct support to those experiencing street homelessness. They do this by alleviating poverty, tackling food insecurity and providing support to families and young people across more than 50 projects.
The world we live in today is an unfair one and many people have been let down by society. They need help and support in order to have a chance at surviving and hopefully, with appropriate support, thriving. Without charities like Cyrenians, they don't stand a chance. I want to do a little bit towards that. A little bit of good. A little bit of effort in the hope that this helps a fellow human being who's just been dealt a bad hand at life for no fault of their own.
I'd appreciate anything you are able to give. I'm aware of life's pressures everyone is experiencing at the moment. If you're not able to donate then please have a look at the wonderful work Cyrenians do and maybe in the future you will remember them and be able to give a few pounds to them. Or share this with someone you know that would be interested in finding out more about Cyrenians.
Thank you for your time and attention.
