Story
Firstly, I would like to dedicate my effort and fund raising to my Uncle
Iqbal (aka. superman).
My uncle is currently suffering from Cancer and is slowly losing the battle
for his life. He is an amazing person who has always been the life of any
party. He always encouraged me to be the best human being I can possibly
be, always promoted self-confidence and proved to me that anything is possible with the right attitude and hard work. It is heart breaking to see someone you look up to slowly losing a battle but hasn’t given up, keep smiling Iqbal Chacha this is for you !
Mission to help the less able
Hope and
Knowledge (H&K) is a non-profit initiative that runs projects and events
for different charity organisations to help raise money and
awareness.
This year H&K
are taking us from London to Margate on an 82 mile bike ride on the 24th March
2018.
Those of you who
know me can appreciate I am always up for a challenge however I have never
taken on such a physical challenge. With hard work and determination, we will
be able to give back a tiny bit to society (Insha'Allah).
This cause is especially close to my heart as I personally suffered from hearing loss during my younger years and more so in recent times. There is always a fear whether one will be able to live a normal life. Not everyone has the opportunity to treatment that was given to me, not everyone will have an opportunity that will give them a better quality of life. Alhamdulillah through treatment I am "able" to live a "normal" life many are not so fortunate.
When I heard about the charity I had to jump at the chance to participate in such a worthwhile cause. Please please help me raise the amount we need for such a worthwhile cause, donate with an open heart as often charity is our chance to give back to society, giving never diminish ones wealth (Insha'Allah ).
Why Margate?
England's first
public institution for deaf children, started in London in 1792. The school
opened its branch in Margate (August 1876) and later on, moved the entire
operation from London to Margate.
Hearing Disabilities
- 1 in 6 people have hearing difficulties
- Deafness is the second biggest disability in the world
- Imagine a life without sound
- Whilst having a desire to learn.
Imagine never being able to hear the beautiful Azan, imagine never being able to hear your favourite music?, watch your favourite movie How misfortunate you would feel?
A life without sound, without knowledge is a life felt in isolation.
What would you do, where would you go, who can help? Al-Isharah
Al-Isharah was founded on the premise that deaf children born into asian sub-continent families were severely marginalised from the wider community. We found often the communication between parents and children as bare minimal. As you can imagine, it's very difficult for the first generation migrants to learn English and then to further learn the British sign language.
Al-Isharah is refusing to accept this and providing various services to ensure this is not a continuing trend. We are aspiring to become the organisation that ultimately aids people in such predicaments in every major aspect of their lives.
thank you from the bottom of my heart
Mohamed
