Story
Rob and I have decided we want to raise some money for some good causes leading up to Christmas. We've set the pretty lofty target of raising in the region of £5,000 between us (hopefully anyway!). We'll be doing various challenges, events and other bits in the build up to Christmas.
The first challenge I'll be doing is the Original Mountain Marathon (https://www.theomm.com/the-omm/), which is on the weekend of 28/29th October 2017 in the Langdale Valley, in the Lake District. It is the 50th anniversary of the 'extreme two-day race, held at the end of October, started in 1968 to combine fell running, orienteering, hill walking, trail running and an overnight wild camp. With an ethos of self-reliance and endurance, competitors are at the mercy of the elements…and their own decisions.' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51fhaCFqGcs)
The course is 65km over 2 days with 3000m of ascent! Training has been interesting, especially for someone who hadn't run further than a 10km, on relatively flat ground prior to this, but I'm very excited by the challenge!
I'll be raising money for Centre 404, a local charity based near Camden that I have helped out with. They offer a range of high quality services to assist children and adults with a learning disability and their family carers and are a truly worthy cause.
Keep your eyes peeled for further challenges and events in the coming weeks!
