Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
The 3 Sussex branches of the MND Association are on the march! *
We're coming together to support people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) throughout the county. Many will have seen the devastating effects of MND on individuals and, often young families through the recent publicity surrounding sports stars Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir, Stephen Darby and Len Johnrose. There are many people living throughout Sussex bravely facing up to the same realities of this brutal, incurable condition.
Will you join us by donating to show that we are #SussexUnited2EndMND ?
Our 3 branches and their amazing volunteers covering West Sussex North & West Sussex South and East Sussex need those funds to continue the vital work of supporting the care of those living with MND, as well as help fund increasingly promising research to propel us towards our goal of "A world free from MND".
*On Sunday, August 29, starting at 2pm patients, carers and our amazing volunteers will be taking the 4 mile walk from The Big Beach Café, Hove Lagoon along the seafront to the i360/West Pier and back to Hove again. As well as able-bodied adults, there will be wheelchairs, pushchairs, children and, of course, dogs! We will be resplendent in our blue and orange MND Association T-shirts and other regalia, raising awareness at the same time as much-needed funds through a bucket collection and online donations.
MND is a progressive, incurable condition which, in no set order, takes away your ability to use your arms/hands, legs, eat, talk and ultimately to breathe. It is mainly rapidly progressive with 33% of those diagnosed passing away within a year, 50% within 2 years. MND is NOT rare, there is a 1 in 300 lifetime risk of getting MND, meaning it will affect over 200,000 of the current UK population. Average age of onset is in the mid-50s, but many younger people, including those in their late teens or early 20s, also live with MND.
All monies given to us via this Just Giving page will be split equally between the West Sussex North Branch, West Sussex South Branch and the East Sussex Branch of The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) to help the people in the Sussex area.
