Story
The Branch is run entirely by volunteers who support people living with MND in South London.
Motor Neurone Disease is a fatal condition that devastates lives. It weakens and wastes the muscles, resulting in loss of mobility and speech, difficulties with swallowing and ultimately, breathing. There is no known cure and no alleviating treatment. Half of people with MND die within 14 months of diagnosis.
The money we raise is primarily used to give people living with MND and their families a better quality of life by helping with the purchase of much-needed equipment, such as communication aids, bio-bidets and stairlifts, by assisting with the costs of home modification and respite care and by helping with transport costs. Our funds also help carers, partners and the children of those affected by MND. The Branch also supports people with MND, their carers and families through its network of fully trained Association Visitors and Coffee Afternoon’s held every other month.
