Story

On saturday 1st October Myself, Sinead and Stephanie are going to be doing a sponsored walk up Tinto hill in aid of Polycystic Kidney Disease ( PKD) Charity UK. 🤍This charity is a charity very close to myself and my families hearts. As some of you may know my mum has PKD and has suffered many many years with the different side effects and illnesses that come along with this disease. In May this year my mum underwent major surgery to remove her left kidney as it was failing her due to this horrible disease, and sadly in another few years my mum will have to have her other kidney removed and will need a transplant or dialysis. Many people don’t know about PKD and the seriousness that it has on the effected peoples lives. PKD is a range of life-threatening inherited conditions that can cause kidney failure and affect other organs in the body such as the liver, brain, heart and bowels. Most people with PKD live with an uncertain prognosis, intermittent pain and infections, and then have to undergo life-saving dialysis or transplant in their 50s.

The aim of the PKD.

“We fund innovative research dedicated to improving understanding of polycystic kidney disease (PKD) which will lead to the development of new treatments to slow or prevent PKD progression, reduce pain, better manage other symptoms and improve quality of life.”

Any donations would be appreciated towards this amazing charity. Thankyou🤍
