Story
When someone you love departs from this world, your perspective on life and what you deem important completely changes. It changes even more so when that person is your parent. You replay every little thing they told you and memories that you shared with them.
For me, when I look back at my memories with my Dad, I remember him leading us in Salah during Ramadan, or how he constantly reminded us to pray and read Quran. I remember his smile when we memorise the 99 names of Allah and his happiness when we learnt a new portion of the Quran. I remember him waking us up for Suhoor in the mornings and helping prepare iftaar in the evenings.
When I think back to my memories with my Dad, they’re mainly filled with remembrance of Allah.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA), The Prophet (SAW) said: “A person dies, his deeds come to an end except three: 1) Sadaqa Jaaria, 2) knowledge from which benefit is gained, 3) or a righteous child who prays for him” - Muslim
Since my beloved father was taken from this Dunya late 2017, I made a vow to be a better daughter and Muslim in the hope that it’ll benefit my Dad in his Akhirah. This Ramadan I have decided to do Sadaqa on his behalf with the intention that he receives the reward in shaa Allah.
All money raised will be donated to Syrian Refugees in camps situated in Jordan and Lebanon. Food packs will be distributed to families throughout Ramadan and the rest of the year.
Whilst we have been blessed by Allah (SWT) with tables filled with food, unfortunately this is not the case for our Muslim brothers and sisters.
As Ramadan is upon us I asked that you donate generously to help those in need!
Our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The believers shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” - (Timidhi)
May Allah accept this from you, me and my Dad and let it weighs heavy on our scales, and may we earn His shade on the day of judgement when there is no shade but His. Ameen x
