Story
I completed the Surrey 80 mile event last year for Maggie's and was delighted to exceed my donations target. A quick 12 months later and little has changed. Looking back, I would never have expected the effects and restrictions of Covid to have been as long lasting.
The lock downs have been difficult for us all, but they have decimated the charity sector as many fund raising events like the Pru Ride London have been cancelled again this year. The ability to fund raise has lessened, but the need for help certainly has not. Cancer is still taking it's toll and thus the support that Maggie's provide is even more important.
As a result. I decided to lend my support again by cycling for Maggie's in this 100 mile ride around a hilly Surrey circuit. The landscape is certainly testing as we start at Box Hill!
The last time I rode 100 miles was 2 years ago (the photo shows the pain on my face). I picked up an injury (& have recently undertaken knee surgery) which means I have not really been able to train for this ride, but I am determined to complete the task. It is thanks to your support and witnessing the fantastic work that Maggie's do, that drives me. My son Zac & nephew Luke have also been roped into this challenge, which will only add to the pressure as I try to keep up with the young guns!
I hope that you feel the charity is worth your support (again for some), and every penny or pound will be greatly appreciated.
