Story
Operation Everest.
So as everyone probably knows I enjoy a bit of ‘Fell Walking’ and myself and Jordan Mcguirk have decided to take on a little challenge to help focus on something during these difficult times.
Last weekend we climbed Kirk Fell, Wasdale for the first and what I thought would be my last as it was the hardest I have done to date. Instead we have decided to use this climb as the setting for our most testing venture yet, Operation Everest.
‘Operation Everest’
Our plan is to ascend and descend Kirk Fell repeatedly until we have accumulated the same height as Mount Everest 8848m. After working it out it’s going to be roughly 14 times top to bottom, 29 miles in total. We aim to achieve this over 2/3 days, on the 1st weekend in June (Friday the 3rd) . Unless extreme weather stops this.
Whilst climbing we thought why not try and raise some money at the same time so we have set a target of £1000 for Every life matters charity (Promoting Suicide Safer Communities and providing Suicide Bereavement Support across Cumbria) Mental health and suicide is a subject close to our hearts. I lost my little brother and step brother in 2019/20 due to mental health and alot of us have been affected or know someone who has been affected by this horrible illness.
I would like to accomplish this, the biggest physical challenge of my life in my brothers memories. Mental health and suicide rates are on a major rise due to the pandemic and if what we are doing helps even just 1 person its worth every step we take.
For all the keen walkers out there, if anyone wants to get involved whether It be to join us in the challenge or even join us on one accent get in touch.
All donations and shares would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊. Wish us luck
