Story

Dear Friends & Family,

Welcome to our UK Sepsis Trust Always Remember Fund, in memory of our mum, Denise, who sadly passed away from sepsis in 2000. We want to support the trust with all the important work they do to fight this life-threatening condition and support those affected by sepsis.

Fundraising Activities

  • Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge

On the 25th of August we embarked on an exciting adventure - the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge! This  involved hiking 24.5 miles across the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough within 12 hours. We were delighted to be joined by our partners and friends: Kelly, Max, Lauren, Annie and Charlotte.

With the amazing support from family and friends we fundraised an amazing £2061.99. We were then able to secure a further £775 through a fundraising matching scheme with Thermo Fisher Scientific. This brought the grand total to £2836.99.

  • Thorpe Park Half Marathon
On 26th February 2017 we completed the Thorpe Park Half Marathon and used  this opportunity to fundraise for the UK Sepsis Trust to help them with all the amazing work they do! With the support from our family and friends we raised over £1000!

Thank you

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated over the years - your support means the world to us. With your help we can support the UK Sepsis Trust with the amazing work they do to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis.

Keep your eyes pealed for our next fundraising event. Suggestions are always welcome!

Mitch, Ken, Em and Ben :-)

Message from the UK Sepsis Trust

Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
