Story
I have a few family members that have suffered with different kinds of cancer, some of who are sadly no longer with us. In December 2013 my Nan was diagnosed with breast cancer and luckily the doctors had caught it as soon as they could. After a couple of operations and with the current treatment she is receiving she is on the mend. However for the unlucky that is not the case. My sister Samantha Louise Sumner ran the Race for Life in 2012 at the Walsall Arboretum in memory of our Grandad and Great Auntie raising £100. As a group we hope to triple that this year and help make a difference to those suffering and to give back the support that Cancer Research has given.
On Saturday 22nd February 2014 I won the title of 'Miss Black Country 2014/15' and will be representing the Black Country at the Miss England Finals in Torquay during June this year. Using my title I plan to get involved and raise money for as many charities close to my heart as possible. Helping others is something I strive to do.
It's not only me that has family members that have suffered or that are suffering with cancer but the ladies that are joining me in this group to take part in Race for Life too have their own stories as important as mine.
Myself and 'my girls' will be running, jogging or walking in the Race for Life this year and hope to raise enough money to help make a difference to the lives of cancer sufferers and help put back the money that Cancer Research has taken out to help those in need.
Please help, every penny counts...
