Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, I gave birth to our daughter in May, but unfortunately she was born not breathing and no heart beat. After being resuscitated in front of us, she was transferred immediately to Homerton Hospital for more specialised care. She spent the first week of her life in intensive care in the NICU at Homerton, where the doctors stabilised her breathing and drained air and fluid from both the inside and out of her lungs. Many tests were run on her lungs, heart, brain and kidneys and after leaving intensive care, she then spent two further weeks in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) where the nurses and doctors continued to help her recover from her tramutic birth. The care our daughter received from everyone in the units was first class every single day. We are eternally grateful to each and everyone of these staff for helping our little girl become strong enough to come home. I can't emphasis enough what a difference these innately kind and caring nurses made to James and I during the worst weeks of our lives.
As a small sign of our appreciation, James and I are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October to raise as much money as possible for the hopsital and neonatal unit as a thank you to all the consultants, doctors and nurses who cared for our baby girl.
Those that know me well, know that I hate running!! So this is a big effort running 13 miles! Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by James and I and everyone in baby unit at Homerton.
Many thanks
Miranda and James
