Story
In December this year we will be driving a MINI Cooper D Countryman ALL4 to above the Arctic Circle to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
This expedition, starting in the UK, will take us over 6,500 miles through snow and ice across Scandinavia in the depths of winter. That’s the same distance as driving to New York and over half way back!
Once above the Arctic Circle we will be in 24 hour darkness – driving to reach our goal of the furthest point North you can drive to in mainland Europe which is over 71° degrees North in Norway. Temperatures are likely to drop below -25oC and possibly down as low as -50oC, meaning most roads will be made entirely of snow and ice.
Once in the 24 hour darkness zone only the moonlight and Northern lights will keep us company.
Our expedition will take us to France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the Russian border and Norway.
Our epic trip will begin on November 27th 2010 at Arden MINI Maidstone dealership, started by a celebrity (TBC), followed by a MINI convoy down to the Channel Tunnel.
During the trip our progress will be followed on MINI enthusiast websites across the globe.
