Story
This was a training goal to aim for along the way - before I cycled 300 miles in June! Both the Tri and cycle have been cancelled - but I still need to raise funds!
The Dolphin Society is trying to keep Older people in their own homes in the Bristol Area.
We do this in two main ways -
We fund over 400 pendant alarms that older, and less able, people use to get hold of in-house help to allow them to stay longer in their own homes.
We also are running a 3 year project by which we fund a Home from Hospital Technician, and his van, to go into peoples homes with an occupational therapist. The O.C. highlights what the client needs to adapt their house to facilitate a "quick release" from hospital and thus save "hospital bed spaces". Usually each new client visit by the technician will save between 1 and 4 nights extra stay in Hospital.
On top of the above we give small grants to charities and organisations in the region that help the elderly - during Covid19 we have supported the After Stroke Club and Fareshare who are distributing excess food stuffs to charities that are supplying meals to the elderly and vulnerable.
I have a mammoth task this year to raise as much as I can (the Previous President raised £90,000!)
I have my main appeal letter going out in October for anyone interested! Do email me if you are happy for me to get in touch with you.
