Story
I’ve had to defer my original entry of running Berlin now for the last two years, but I think I can now start to believe that it’s gonna be happening …bring on Berlin 2022. With so many peoples help, my fundraising target for Berlin has already exceeded my target for JDRF ….but with a few months left I’m looking to raise more funds for an amazing charity which is very close to my heart! 💙 ….(unfortunately the Virgin Money fundraiser platform has closed down so I have had to create this page with Just Giving).
And as if running one Marathon isnt enough ...I've now signed up to run London one week after Berlin …bring on Berlin and London ...two marathons in 8 days ...crazy!
With so many peoples help, my fundraising target for Berlin has already raised over £3,000.00 for JDRF (my Just Giving page). Now I need to raise a further £2k for London. (See my Enthuse fundraising page) - with further bonus ball funds to be added over the next few months, this will be exceeding the £3k mark come September, amazing support 🙏
To be able to run two World Marathon Majors within 8 days is amazing and a little bit cray cray 😂 Some people wait years to gain entry to these major marathons and I’m so thankful to have been given a place to run both Berlin and London from JDRF.
Many of you will know that I ran the London Marathon in 2018, raising nearly £10k for them 😍 ...so I’m back for another challenge whilst raising funds for a very deserving cause!
It has been nearly 5 years now since my son Billy, now age 12,, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. There has been some very challenging times dealing with this life threatening condition but having such an amazing, level headed young boy, who has more to deal with than some adults amazes me how he just gets on with it. 💙
Raising funds for JDRF is so important to everyone that suffers with the daily burdens of Diabetes. The research into this chronic condition is invaluable. Billy is lucky enough to have access to some of the latest technology offered, which includes a Libre Sensor - this enables a simple scan of a device that sits under his skin to determine his blood sugar level, rather than having to draw blood from his fingers multiple times a day.
Any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated and 100% of all funds donated goes directly to JDRF. All personal and travel expenses come out of my own pocket, crazy hobby ...maybe 😂
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my reason for raising funds for JDRF.
Mims 💙
