After experiencing common symptoms and consultants noticing a pattern in the family, Harrison was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in August 2018. With each situation being unique, it has taken 2 years to finally find medication that controls his symptoms. During these 2 years there have been many ups and downs including multiple flare ups, surgery and drastic weight fluctuation. This has impacted not just his physical health, but also his social and mental wellbeing. Through fundraising, we believe that the initial stages of diagnosis and trial medications will be made a quicker and easier process, and hopefully one day a cure will be found.
Crohn's and Colitis UK provides support and guidance for people living with the disease. They have over have over 50 pages of information to help inform anyone affected, including friends, family, medical professionals and even employers. Harrison has found that this charity has educated him on the disease and has made him realise that he is not alone, with 1 in every 650 people in the UK having Crohn's Disease.
