Story
On 15 June over 100 Mills & Reeve employees (and some family members!) will be hiking, canoeing and ghyll scrambling in Coniston to raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust.
The challenge
- Hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston
- Ascend the ghyll known as Church Beck, including ducking under obstacles, traversing and jumping into deep pools and climbing waterfalls
- Canoe from the shores of Coniston Water
There will be three levels of difficulty so everyone can take part and challenge themselves for such a great cause.
The Mills & Reeve Cycle Club is also getting involved with an adventure of their own, cycling from London to Paris on the same weekend.
Why are we doing this?
One in four young people at risk of homelessness identify as LGBTQ+. Compared to youth in general, LGBTQ+ young people are at a significantly higher risk of exposure to a range of experiences that are associated with becoming homeless, most notably parental rejection, physical violence, emotional abuse and mental ill health.
The Albert Kennedy Trust is one of the UK’s leading national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charities. The charity provides invaluable support and safe accommodation (6075 nights in 2016/17) to these vulnerable young people, helping them to escape abusive and unsafe environments.
Thank you for supporting us; your donation will go towards delivering vital services to young, homeless LGBTQ+ people.
It costs only £50 to provide a young person with 3 nights accommodation, food vouchers, a mobile phone top-up and travel allowance.
Let's help the Albert Kennedy Trust make a difference.
