Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just over 2 years ago I posted an imagine of myself on Facebook , with the intention of having a bit of harmless fun. The image was of myself holding an old board with the words :
"My wife says if I get 1 million likes I can go see Bradford City at Wembley ( I live in Australia) "
what started out as fun, grew into a media monster, my facebook campaign went viral, and in a short period of time I reached the magic target of 1 million likes .
I was very fortunate to be approached by Chevrolet FC who provided me with a free return flight from Australia to England as well as a courtesy car, so on 24th February 2013 I watched my football team Bradford City play in a Wembley Cup final for the first time in over 100 hundred years .
2 years on and Bradford City are on the brink of reaching Wembley again, and as much as I would like to be there again it brings me to the reason for this appeal.
On 11th May 2015 it will be 30 years since the fire disaster at Bradford City , one of the worst sporting disasters in British football if not the world. That was the day 56 supporters lost their lives and 258 others were injured
To mark this important anniversary I would like to raise money for the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU) at Bradford University, who were instrumental in saving the lives of hundreds of people that day.
This appeal is not about how I reached 1 million likes , but how the power of social media made that possible, so with that in mind I want to emulate that response but this time instead of likes I require donations for The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU)
The 56 lives taken that day will never be forgotten, but we can ensure that with the work of PSBRU, there will be triumph through tragedy
Please dig deep , and think about your own lives and people around you, you never know one day you may need a helping hand , so for the a price of a coffee, or downloaded song or app, you could be helping further the research at PSBRU
