Philips Footprints is launching a £15,000 appeal to furnish the Bereavement Suite in Jersey Maternity Unit which is being relocated as part of a larger refurbishment. Each year, around 1,000 babies are born in Jersey. For most, it is a joyous occasion, bringing new life into the world. But around 20 families do not get to take their much wanted and already much loved babies home and instead they are left with a devastating and profound heartbreak. At times such as this, bereaved parents need a safe space. We know from personal experience just how important the bereavement suite is, providing a refuge for mothers, fathers, siblings and wider family. The money raised will go towards creating an up to date, peaceful space allowing families to spend time with their baby, holding them, making treasured memories and helping them begin to grieve the loss of their baby or babies.
