Story
The day before my sons first birthday on 5th July 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer. I had to go through a chemotherapy treatment every 3 weeks for 18 weeks, an operation in December, followed by five weeks of radiotherapy in March 2019. It was a long, hard battle which I also suffered from depression which I found worse than the treatments themselves.
I can’t thank my husband (Toby), family, friends and Granny Georgie (our nanny) for all of there kind help and support. In particular I need to thank Toby for purchasing Hatari who I’m hoping to ride in the charity race. This horse, my kids and husband were Key in helping make me get out of bed and keep going because they all relied on me.
It was the toughest 18 months of my life but for sure what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I haven’t raised any money for Breast Cancer yet but wanted to be seen doing and supporting something that I love and live for. This is horse racing, so what better way to raise money than to ride in the SWW Charity race.
I will also be supporting the air ambulance and injured jockeys fund because I injured my back riding in a point to point in Ireland when riding for Enniskillen College and my old boss David Christie. I had to be flown to hospital and the injured jockeys fund kindly supported me, so I would like to give them something back in return.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for there kind generosity and support, together I hope we can help Yeovil hospital towards getting their new 2 million pound Breast Cancer facility to save more lives like mine
