Windsor Half Marathon 2016 · 25 September 2016 ·
We are running the Windsor half marathon to raise money for Bloodwise cancer charity. As a family we have been affected by non-hodgkins T cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. My youngest son, Mason was diagnosed with this rare type of cancer in April 2015, it was just before his 3rd birthday and as you can imagine came as an enormous shock to the whole family.
Non-hodgkins Lymphoma is just one of 137 types of blood cancer and has several different sub-types. In total there are around 37 people diagnosed per day. Bloodwise is a charity which supports those affected by blood cancers through research into its causes, treatments and cures and so we want to show our support by raising as much money as we can to help others, like Mason affected by this type of cancer.
Mason's journey...
By Christmas in 2015 Mason had completed his intensive phase of chemotherapy which involved many trips to addenbrookes hospital for planned stays but also for treatment when he became really poorly as a result of the chemotherapy itself. Through all of this Mason has managed to keep smiling and continues to entertain us all with his cheeky nature!! Mostly he has kept us all going, and always keeps his 2 older brothers on their toes!
Mason is now in his maintenance phase of treatment which will finish in August 2018 and is doing great thanks to all the amazing people caring for him and the support from all our family and friends.
Thank you for taking time to visit our page and support this amazing cause. I will be running with my brother and sister in law, Neil and Lizzie. We are all determined to do something really positive and are hugely greatful for your support.
