Run your red sox off for John Peterson

Fundraising for The University of Edinburgh
£1,224
raised of £500 target
In memory of John Peterson
This fundraising campaign will see friends and colleagues of the late Professor John Peterson traverse 500 miles (and maybe 500 more) to support postgraduate student learning.

Story

We’re throwing balls and raising funds in memory of our Dad (say Miles and Calum) and husband (says Elizabeth). We pledge to throw (and catch) a baseball the equivalent of 1 mile (5280 feet, 1.6km) during the month of October. We’ll accomplish this through 132 throws at 40 feet, or 176 throws at 30 feet, or some other mix of distance and repetition (depending on who is throwing).

John Peterson fancied himself a pitcher and often managed to throw
the ball the entire way from the pitcher’s mound to the home plate (60 feet).

All money raised through this challenge will go to the John Peterson Memorial Fund supporting a range of PhD studentships in the School of Social and Political Science, with particular focus on PhD study in areas linked to John's scholarly expertise. Thanks for your donation!
