Story
In May Lizzie Bailey's mum was diagnosed with cancer...
As a team we heard of the support Maggie's is providing to Lizzie and her family and wanted to do anything we can to help. In the office on Thursday 25th August the team will be taking turns on 2 exercise bikes. The goal is to cycle 200 miles in a day - the equivalent of traveling from York (where Lizzie went to Uni) to Edinburgh (where Lizzie's family live).
It's a sobering fact that every 2 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. A cancer diagnosis can turn life upside-down. The pandemic has created more challenges – from late diagnosis, delayed or cancelled treatments to feelings of loneliness and anxiety.
Maggie’s provides workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support helping people to change the way they live with cancer, focusing on the things that really make a difference, like money worries, help with stress and depression, managing side-effects and relationship and family support. Their support has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression and increase self-esteem for people with cancer, helping them and their loved one’s cope with a diagnosis.
Maggie's Edinburgh needs your help now more than ever. Their team of specialists, run by psychologists, cancer support specialists and benefits advisors, support people by phone, video call and online. Any donations you can contribute will be making a real difference to the people living with cancer.
