As many of you may be aware Michael, or Mik Parslow aka Poodle, was airlifted by Thames Valley Air Ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital after a horrific car crash on Thursday 10th August. He had severe multiple injuries from head to toe & the hospital staff spent many hours to stabilize him. Being kept sedated & on life support throughout. After 4 days with more surgery scans revealed that his brain had been damaged to a point beyond recovery. Even if his fragile broken body healed sufficiently, there was no hope for any sort of life. The difficult & painful decision was made to remove his life support & allow him to slip away peacefully. On Thursday 17th August at around 2pm his life support was switched off & Mik passed peacefully away with his immediate family at his bedside.
In his passing he will be helping others to survive & live better lives due to organ donation, hopefully 3 people will now have benefited from this.
We as a family thank very much all the teams that rescued, flew & also treated Michael throughout the 7 days. They are all Hero's. We feel the Thames Valley Air Ambulance gave Michael the best possibility of survival had it not been for their service he would have had even less chance.
It costs £2.2 million to keep Thames Valley Air Ambulance flying per year.
