Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the Irish Cancer Society because Cancer is something that affects so many of us, either personally, or those close to us throughout our lives. It is something that is truly devastating, those who are and have battled cancer, and those that have and are helping loved ones battle cancer are some of the strongest, kindest, most genuine people I know. I have people in my life that have inspired me through their perseverance, love and strength in the face of cancer. To raise money for this cause in any way I can, in honor of those people, is the least I can do.
To raise money I am participating in two events. The first is planned to take place in May 15th this is organised by myself and my brother Patrick. Who previously swam the 245km length of the Shannon in 14 days while raising money for a number of charities and local initiatives including the Irish Cancer Society.
The first event itself we are calling the Loughree Challange, this will comprise of myself running around Loughree Lake while my brother Patrick swims the length of Loughree, from the bridge at Lanesborough to the bridge in Athlone. My route will start at Athlone Bridge bringing me through Ballymahon on to Lanesborough, to Roscommon Town and back to Athlone bridge. Both of us are looking at a time under 12 hours and we will be trying to beat each other. 🙂
The second event is an organised event known as the Connemara 100. Which wile take place on August 14th&15th. This is a 100mile /160km Road ultramarathon taking place in connemara starting in Clifden through Letterfrack, Lettergesh, the Inagh Valley, Maam Cross, Leenane, Inagh Valley again, then on to Roundstone, Ballyconneely and back to Clifden to complete 100 miles with a 30hour cut off. I will be supported in this race by my brother Patrick who kindly volunteered his time to drive behind me during the race.
