We safe and decent homes for families to build new lives, hopes and opportunities

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am swapping my Liverpool Habitat for Humanity volunteer hard hat for walking boots this summer in my quest to raise sponsorship for the Toxteth project.

My aim is to walk the length of the Pyrenees. The route will follow the French – Spanish border for over 600 miles from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast. It will take in many peaks and involve a total climb of over 160,000 feet, more than 5 Everests!

While on a gap year from my town planning career, I have been lending a hand to build homes at Liverpool’s Habitat for Humanity project in Toxteth. The first homes on the site will soon be ready for occupation by local people who would not otherwise be able to obtain a decent home.

Habitat for Humanity is an international charity, active in 94 countries. Since being set up in 1976 Habitat for Humanity volunteers working with families in housing need have built over 230,000 homes.

The trip will combine my love of mountain walking with a wish to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Habitat for Humanity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support,

Mike

About the charity

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
