Story
From Mike Buggy
Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have just run in the Dublin Marathon (Monday 26th Oct). My training was somewhat haphazard and chaotic (you wouldnt expect anything else from me). My aim was just to finish before the street cleaners removed the cones and reopened the roads..or even just to finish at all. I was expecting to be well over 5hrs 30m (similar to my London Marathon time) and to have to walk, crawl, or stagger some of the course. In the event, I managed to run the whole 26.2 miles, more or less without a break. Even more surprisingly I managed a sprint for the last 2 or 3 miles, and finished with an elapsed time of 4h 43 mins, nearly an hour quicker than my London time! Help from you all, and the crowd kept me going.
I am raising a little bit of money for an amazing organisation called Mercy Ships. (www.mercyships.org).
They run 3 ships which provide amazing free medical aid and operations (hare lips, eyesight, deformities, diseases etc) around Africa and South America. All the doctors and crew are volunteers. They are really highly thought of in the field and they work miracles wherever they visit.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
For my Irish, ex-Irish, & Anglo Irish friends and Contacts
Note that I was also raising funds for another charity, the St Vincent De Paul Society (www.svp.ie), which provides help for the poor and deprived throughout Ireland, UK, and USA. I have a separate fundraising website for this, largely for my Irish & Anglo-irish friends and contacts, but please be patient if you receive both as my outlook address book may not be able to discriminate between you all.
So far between both charities we have raised about £1400.
Thank you again
