Well
After 5 years of saying I am going to do it, I have finally got my act together and signed up to take part in the Kindrochit Quadrathlon in the Scottish Highlands. The challenge consists of:
A 1 mile swim across Loch Tay
A 15 mile run/ crawl over the Munroes surrounding the Loch (a total ascent of c2,500m)
A 7 mile kayak across back across the Loch and then
A 34 mile cycle around the Loch
... Put quite frankly, the whole event will be horriffc but (assuming I don't drown/ collapse/ sink/ crash along the route), I hope to complete it in around 11hours. And in doing so, we will hopefully raise some great money for charity.
We (I have roped in a mate to also do the challenge) are racing for a charity called Mercy Corps. I didnt know much about them until I signed up for this event but upon learning more about them, they are an amazing charity. Their aim is to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities.
All the money that we raise for this challenge will go to helping indigenous families in Guatemala build a better future for their communities.
So - In summary - the challenge is ridiculously hard and the charity is great... please dig deep and wish me luck!
