Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit Freya's JustGiving page. Every week in the UK, 12 young (that is, aged 35 and under) people die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition. 80% of these young people have no signs or symptoms and so the only way to detect a potentially sinister cardiac abnormality is by having a CRY screening test.
We are totally and utterly devastated that our beautiful, energetic and seemingly fit 19 year old daughter Freya died so suddenly on 31st December 2017. The pain and loss we feel is unbearable but CRY are holding our hands and helping us to navigate our heartbreaking truth and the potential challenges ahead. Like our brilliant, vibrant, sparkling and determined daughter, CRY are making a difference and their work is, and will continue to be, instrumental in the diagnosis and prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in young people.
In Freya's memory Mike, Ali, Ollie and Matilda will embark on an adventure to support CRY, through Charity Challenge, as adventures were Freya's absolute passion. In 2020 we will visit Argentina to explore Patagonia and trek the Andes mountains. This is just one of the adventures on Freya's very long list. We will confirm dates once we able to do so, and will ensure all donations go to CRY in Freya's beautiful memory.
Update May 8th 2018 (too many characters for the update section!)
Seize the Day!
As we catapult towards our fifth complete month without our precious Freya we wanted to take this opportunity to update you and to thank you once again for your wonderful support of our chosen charity CRY. Freya inspired. We can see that from the countless young (and older) people who have been motivated to raise money in memory of Freya for CRY. From the amazing University of Bristol Tri-team’s weekend of activity entitled ‘To Africa for Freya’ (thank you so much for organising James Price) to a large group of Freya’s friends running the Bristol 10k this weekend. Some of whom are not runners but are now!

We are so proud and thankful to you all. To Alex, Lydia, George, Douglas, Beth, Diane, Julie, Lucy, Rich, Pete, Pete, Andy, Pat, Paul, Mark and the gang for running, cycling, swimming and taking part in events not necessarily on their radar before Freya so tragically lost her beautiful life. It not only raises much needed awareness and funds for CRY, it helps us. It comforts us and supports us, and the boundless energy absolutely gives us every reason to look forward, knowing that our extraordinary daughter made such a huge impact. Thank you. Thank you, and good luck to the UoB friends running this weekend, just as Freya did last year on Cal's Birthday. (Becky Lacey, Olivia Cooke Lily Hawkes Emma Chittleburgh - to name just a few).
