Story
Last year I embraced the challenge, took part in and successfully completed the 2021 version of the Since 1664 Commando Yomp and entered the 2022 event in order to raise funds for the Royal Marines Charity.
Unfortunately, the event has at late notice, been cancelled due to reasons outside the organiser’s control. As consequence, two of us have chosen to walk the 166.4km route from Winchester to Eastbourne within the 36 hour time cap on a self supported basis starting early on Saturday 30th April 2022 and finishing sometime during the afternoon of Sunday 1st May 2022 in lieu.
However, especially in 40th anniversary year of the Falklands War and the 80th anniversary of the formation of Royal Marines Commando , we recognise that some former marines and their families face life changing or other challenges on daily basis as a result of their service.
The Royal Marines Charity is uniquely placed to understand, respond and react to those needs providing the necessary support. I trust you are able to show your support. Thank you.
