Story
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am thrilled to be taking part in my second charity challenge for St Margaret's. I know several people who have benefitted from the work of the hospice during difficult times and this is my way of giving something back. The cameraderie within the 2010 Great Wall group was second to none and everyone played their part in making the event such a huge success. The Mountains and Mandalas trek, which covers 75km of the Himalayan foothills, promises to be every bit as challenging and I look forward to visiting a little-known part of northern India. This trek includes a 12 hour train ride (have you seen photos of Indian trains?!), four nights under canvas - something I haven't tried for over forty years - and there will be no hot water facilities. Visiting the toilet tent under cover of darkness (there will be no street lights where we're going) will present a significant challenge in itself. So I must get that tent up on the front lawn and start training!
As with the Great Walk I will be bearing the full cost of my travel, accommodation and personal expenses for this trip so EVERY PENNY I raise in sponsorship will go directly to the hospice.
St Margaret's has been caring for the people of Somerset and the surrounding areas for over 30 years now. It is a local charity that relies on charitable donations for over 80% of its funding, so please give generously to help ensure its future.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Last, but definitely not least, I would like to say a very big THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
All the very best,
Mike Spencer
