Story
Dr Michael Schachter was a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He unexpectedly passed away in July 2020 at the age of 70 years. At Imperial, alongside his research, Mike was a Faculty Senior Tutor for the School of Medicine and postgraduate tutor for NHLI, and widely involved with the welfare of numerous students. He was also an honorary consultant physician at Imperial Healthcare
NHS and a member of the Trust’s New Drugs Panel and Drug and Therapeutics Committee, of which he was vice-chair. Reflections on Mike’s life can be found in his obituary. https://www.imperial.ac.uk/news/202473/dr-michael-schachter-obituary/
Mike was widely recognised as a devoted teacher, mentor and confidante. Generations of students will remember his kind and perceptive counselling. We felt it inevitable that many of those who will dearly miss Mike might like to donate to a good cause in his memory. This fund will be managed by the School of Medicine locally and will be used solely to support student welfare, including bursaries and counselling. We will also name a dedicated room in the Reynold’s building, on our Charing Cross campus, in Mike’s memory.
Thank you in advance for any and all donations.
