Story
On April the 5th 2018 our baby boy Spencer was born, We were instantly in love and we knew our lives had changed forever. Unfortunately soon after he was born the doctors were worried about Spencer's breathing and he was rushed to the NICU at Burnley Hospital.
After 2 long weeks here Spencer was transferred to Manchester for further tests and to see the specialist respiratory team here. We were obviously very concerned about the health of our brand new baby boy and this definately was not how the books told us it would be!!
We knew that being in Manchester would be the best thing for Spencer even though it was over an hour away we were here every day for the first few days whilst we waited for a room to become available.
This is where things changed and how the Ronald McDonald House has been amazing for us. We had no idea this charity even existed and the great work they do. Its not until you are in a situation like this that you realise all the great support networks there are around.
Now we have our room in the RMH we have been able to stay here every night and see spencer whenever we want. It really has made this very stressful and worrying time that little bit easier. The facilities are like a hotel, its such a great place.
The Ronald McDonald House provide a 'home away from home' for families like ours with children in hospital. There are 14 RMH charities across the country providing 365 day accommodation for families.
It costs over £700,000 each year to run just 1 house and each house can accommodate up to 240 people in 60 rooms.
The Charity relies on donations from families, businesses and local community to help fund these amazing places.
As most of you know I have done some fundraising events in the past and ran marathons etc, this time its different and it is something I really what to help raise the profile of and do what I can to give something back for the help we have received and continue to have during our stay here.
I only have a very short turn around for this as the half marathon race is on May 20th. Please give what you can and I hope to smash the £500 figure before the race.
Its been a long time since I have ran this far and do not have long to train so this will not be easy but certainly a challenge I am ready for.
WE GO AGAIN
