Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The main reason for me raising money for this charity is because my 10 year old daughter suffers from polycystic kidneys and has been monitored from the age of 1 at Alder Hey childrens hospital with this condition. PKD progresses or gets worse with age, as the size and number of the kidney cysts increases. Eventually the cysts begin to affect how the kidneys function, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) develops, which may result in kidney failure.

PKD affects around 12.5 million people worldwide and currently there is no cure and no treatment to prevent the condition progressing. The condition is the world’s most common inherited life-threatening condition, in which fluid-filled cysts develop in both kidneys and result in progressive renal failure. In the UK, it accounts for around 1 in 10 people on dialysis and 1 in 8 with a kidney transplant.

My chosen charity  are the only charity in the UK dedicated to the concerns of people with PKD - Polycystic Kidney Disease.

They need all the support they can get as at present the UK goverment provide zero funding in research funding for PKD.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks Mike
