Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit and donate to my Justgiving page.
The Jersey Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) is a Jersey animal shelter founded in 1868. They attempt to change public attitudes towards animals as well as home, feed and look after animals until the right owner can adopt. Their mission statement is to: “Prevent cruelty, promote knowledge, and provide for the aged, sick, lost and unwanted animals in Jersey”.
Over the past year, the JSPCA has been trying to raise money to keep their shelter open. They launched a campaign called Save Our Shelter. We hope to raise as much money as possible to help the shelter keep running.
I have chosen to take part in this barking mad experience because animal charities are very close to my heart. My brother, Doug, sadly passed away last year. He was a massive believer in treating animals fairly and always donated generously. He always loved animals, he asked for all donations at his funeral to be donated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. I am not only doing this for the JSPCA and to be the Jersey 'Top dog' but also for my brother.
After 40 years of marriage, I believe I am now an expert at being in the 'dog house' so on Friday 7 June I will put this into practice and really spend the working day in the JSPCA's 'dog house'. I have accepted my nomination to stay in the JSPCA kennels for a day along with 11 others. We will only be allowed two walks during this time and only be given treats if we are good. I always knew the pawfect day would come along so I could wear my dog suit but please no pup-arazzi!
Scooby aka the Chief Operation Officer at the Jersey Financial Services Commission has taken a day's holiday to take part in this charity event.
Donating through Justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe. They will send any donations directly to the JSPCA.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
