Story
On the 1st December 2018 we lost the most special person and are left totally heart broken, life will never be the same again. My Dad had been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in July 2017. He was told it was caught early and not to read the Internet. We knew nothing about this nasty disease and he was left to suffer knowing it is terminal and that their is no cure. We were praying for a lung transplant but dad was apparently too well for one but just a few weeks later his health rapidly declined and ended up in intensive care for 14 days fighting for his life. The consultant told us to forget the transplant as he was too poorly to even be considered. Seeing my dad the most fun, proud and positive person who was full of life struggle to walk just a few metres, not wanting to leave the house with embarrassment and frustration as he ended up being reliant on oxygen. This is cruel and sole destroying and it cannot continue!
Myself (Cara Hayward), sister (Becky Hayward), stepson (Bradley Meddings) and son in law (Ben Shayegan) are running the 10k Manchester run on 19th May 2019. We want to support APF to help other sufferers with information and access to support groups, secondly by educating healthcare professionals about pulmonary fibrosis and thirdly through research.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
