Story
I am going to walk through 3 cities, on my 2 feet, at a distance of 1 hundred kilometres for St John Ambulance Cymru, and your donation will help to save lives.
As a St John Ambulance Cymru (SJAC) volunteer, my colleagues and I have spent many hours helping the public at large events in our communities. We provide healthcare and ambulance support to the NHS, provide developmental opportunities for our young people, and we’ve been doing this in Wales for over 100 years.
Over 45,000 St John members supported our Nation’s war efforts in the First World War, with 1077 of them losing their lives trying to save others. Today, St John is still on the front line here in Wales, providing ambulance transport, providing care in field hospitals, and supporting the NHS to fight a different battle – Covid.
All of this costs. Clothing a member in clinically appropriate protective uniform costs approximately £100, and a life saving defibrillator used in cardiac arrests costs about £1000.
In order for us to be able to support our community further as we move towards some degree of normality in a life after Covid, I implore you to contribute towards the aims of our charity by sponsoring my efforts.
I will begin the trek in Swansea, walking through Cardiff and finishing in Newport, at a distance of just over 100Km. I will provide updates and a vlog via Twitter and Facebook, so you can come with me along the route – but without any of the blisters!! All of this will take place during the month of May and should be completed by the 19th. Please help and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
