Story
In August 2020, our daughter Emmeline was diagnosed with a germ cell tumour the size of a grapefruit in her lower abdomen attached to her spine and in her lungs and pelvic bone. She started chemotherapy straight away in the Latch Cancer Charity ward in the Noah's Ark Hospital in Cardiff. After six chemo cycles and some intensive surgery at the end of January 2021, she had massively improved and it looked like the tumours had gone.
Unfortunately, over the next few months her blood markers started increasing again confirming that the tumour had returned in the same place, smaller this time as it had been caught earlier and thankfully not spread to the lungs or bones. In May 2021, she started chemotherapy again and is currently (June 2021) on her second cycle. Her blood markers have begun to decrease slowly again which is really positive. She is amazingly brave and strong and we are all proud of her.
None of her treatment or care would be possible without the help of Latch and Noah's Ark. Everything that is provided to help both the children and the parents is amazing and all paid for by charity money with the fantastic medical staff from the NHS. Without these charities, these children (and their parents) would have no support, no care and no where to go.
Emmeline was two years old in November 2020.
Please see your way to donate something, as small as it might be, to help these kids.
Thank you,
Mike, Clare, Julia (18), Emmeline (2) and Edward (6 months) & Splash the dog (11)
Below is a message from Noah's Ark.
Here at the Noah's Ark Charity we believe passionately that all children in Wales should get the best possible hospital care.
Every year 73,000 children, from across Wales, receive specialist and life-saving treatment at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital in Cardiff and in communities across the nation. Having raised more than £23 million to build and equip the hospital, today the charity work hand in hand with the NHS, providing funding for the most up to date equipment, facilities and support services for families like the play specialist team, who help children be children, despite the difficulties they are facing. Our mission is to create brighter today's and better tomorrows, ensuring the best outcome and experience possible for the children of Wales. Thank you so much for your support.
