Just to let you all know that I completed the Great North Bike Ride on Sunday along with my good friend and neighbour, Pamela. I work as a part time Porter at Wansbeck and regularly see the tremendous work that is carried out by the Special Care Baby Unit when looking after the babies. I can honestly say that the staff are fantastic and deserve all the help they can get to purchase specialist equipment and supplies.

Pamela had a personal reason for helping to raise money as when her daughter Ruby was born she was cared for by the Unit. Ruby is now a beautiful little 6 year old girl and best friends with my little girl Jasmine.

The route on Sunday took us from Seahouses to Tynemouth on what was a beautiful sunny day. The atmosphere was terrific throughout the ride, people were really friendly and we were greeted at the finish line by our families with live music from a steele band. Having picked up our medals and cycle shirts we both headed home tor a well deserved drink.
