Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My sincere thanks to everyone who supported my marathon rowing challenge on Friday 12 April in so many ways and for the wonderful donations for the Mike Campbell Foundation (MCF). With your generosity, I exceeded my target of raising £1,000 for this remarkable charity.
Thanks too to my friend, Sean, who did the row with me for moral support. He kept me going with protein bars and encouragement during the most difficult times when it took great willpower to keep on rowing.
The marathon was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. My challenge was to row 42,195m non-stop at my gym on a Concept 2 rower, which is equivalent to running a full marathon! I was in a huge amount of pain at 38,000m - sore hip flexors and blisters all over my hands, despite wearing gloves, but they say it’s having a strong mental attitude that gets you through - and I reached my tough target of 42,195m.
My bit of pain, however, pales into insignificance compared to the people of Zimbabwe, who are struggling to survive under extremely difficult and often dangerous conditions.
