Story
We are the Bonsor family, Mike, Jenni, Ruth and Sam, Mike writing.
On February 20th 2015, Ruth's best friend, Annie Edwards died suddenly. Her heart just stopped whilst she slept. Annie was only 17.
Annie has been a part of our lives since Ruth met her at secondary school and is a truly lovely girl. Annie is unique in so many ways and lives on in our hearts, hence my refusal to write this in the past tense.
In that vein, I am going to appropriate a Winnie the Pooh quote from Annie's Life Celebration Order of Service:
'If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, then put me in your heart, I'll stay there forever.'
There are so many wonderful things I could write about Annie, but this is not really the place to do that. If you want to know more about this amazing girl, contact us or Helen and Steve, Annie's devoted parents and we can go on for hours.
Helen and Steve have been raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and we have done walks, rides and runs to help support that in the aim of making something positive come out of this heartache.
I am now planning from June 18th 2016 to ride from Land's End to john O'Groats on my cycle, the route I am doing makes it just over 1,000 miles as I wanted to go the pretty way. I would like to see this raise some serious money for CRY.
If through what we raise, one young life is spared through screening or other means, then it will have been worth it. If through this we spare one family that pain, it will be worth it. I know for a fact that I never ever want to hear Ruth cry the way she did when she found out.
In 2018, I continue riding for CRY, this year taking on the Tour de Yorkshire as the first challenge. It's a gruelling 80 mile stage event in the Yorkshire dales.
So, please support.
Helen and Steve also have a JustGiving page, https://www.justgiving.com/lewesannie/
Also, make sure to do the gift aid thing, it helps get the tax right too.
Watch out for updates, and if you want to join the ride, get in touch. Its open to others to join.
If you want to read how the ride went, it's all here..
