Story

Dear All

i am really sorry to report that due to a persistent knee problem I am unable to run the Wilmslow half marathon. however I do not want to give up on my quest or my promises so I am following an ongoing fitness regime and I have signed up for the Macclesfield Half Marathon on the 29th September and I will fulfill my commitment for my wonderful son Rory. For those of you who have donated I hope this is ok for you and look out for some further fundraising activities over the next few months. For those of you who know Rory he has started at Pre school and is doing well and the team and the other children at Prestbury school are wonderful with Him.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September 2009 the most beautiful boy I have ever seen was born.  My wonderful and special wife Shiona went through hell to give birth to him but it was worth it. Every day we would look at him and marvel that we had produced such a handsome, mild mannered and gorgeous baby. Just after he was one we thought that his hearing was impaired because he stopped responding to his name and there was no sign of talking. His hearing was assessed as fine but still no talking and limited response but still gorgeous and so cute! ( just look at the pictures!) in early 2012 Autism was suggested a condition we knew very little about and when we researched it on line it struck fear in our hearts. Rory was diagnosed in July 2012 as Autistic and our journey has begun. So what is autism for the uninitiated?

Rory is 3 years old and doesn't speak and there is a chance he may never speak communication is not and will never be straight forward

Emotional awareness - Rory wants to make attachments but this doesn't come naturally he will have to learn every aspect of human interaction which comes naturally to people without this condition

Routine - Rory needs to have a routine from the food he eats the places he goes and the things he does. He tries hard but at times the need for routine wins

The national autistic society began around 50 years ago to support parents, give advice and create awareness for this challenging condition. Despite the fact that Autism and  associated conditions strike more than one child in every hundred there is still very little known about this condition and how to treat it but one thing is certain there is no cure. However children like Rory can have a better value of life and parents like us faced with this daunting condition can be given support by the National Autistic Society

I understand there are many Charities out there but I hope you can find a small donation to support Rory and those like him. I am an over weight asthmatic but jogging a half marathon is a small price to pay to support my wonderful beautiful son.

Look at his pictures he is a lovely gorgeous boy who has a life of challenges ahead of him but with your help for him and for others like him we may unlock some of the mysteries of this condition
