Story
Following the success of my English Channel Crossing in 2008 and the fundraising I managed to link to it here is what I have been up to in 2009:
In mid July I completed another of the "Ocean's 7" crossings by swimming the Straits of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco in 3h32min.
Having been postponed in May, the swim in Tunisia took place on October 7th 2009, incorporated in the Dialogue Across the Seas Project, 4 Channel Swimmers were invited to compete in a 20Km swim between the Kerkennah Islands and Sfax - I was the first of these to finish.
Apart from the ecological messages conveyed, I am fundraising again for UWC.
This is a movement whose relevance in today's world is perhaps more poignant than ever before and one whose values I identify with closely; to provide the most meritous youths with the unique experience of attending the United World Colleges, an opportunity they would otherwise find impossible to even consider.
Knowing that I am making a difference to the future of so many young people is a strong incentive to keep swimming.
Thank you for helping me turn these aspirations into a reality.
