Story
A little under 3 years ago I lost my mum in her fight against cancer. She fought long and hard for five years battling 2 different types of cancer. She put up a bloody good battle against this horrible disease, that affects so many of us.
My Mother, Maria, will always be remembered as a very loving, caring and selfless woman, but also a little crazy when she wanted to be - definitely the Portuguese coming out in her. She would always do her best to entertain her friends and family, regardless of how she felt. Being there for other people was a big part of how she lived her life, never judging and giving all she had to help others. She is a true inspiration to me and everything I do, which is why I am taking part in a charity boxing fight, that she wouldn't approve of, but I think would understand.
I figured if she could fight for five long years then l can fight for 6 LONG minutes and try to raise a little bit of money to help others going through such a horrible ordeal.
I am hoping to raise some money for Rowcroft Hospice, based in the Southwest, who helped me and my family care for my mum. Every year it costs around £8.7m to run their services and more than 70% of their funding comes from donations and gifts in will. With the support of you guys it will really help people living with a life limiting illness to share precious time with family and friends.
Without the Rowcroft Nurses’ support I feel my family and I would have been lost - so thank you Rowcroft.
Well there it is, now it's down to you guys in helping me achieve a small target of £500 to help support Rowcroft Hospice. Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
The fight night is on the 9th November 2017, and you can purchase tickets here:
