Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may remember back in 2018, MIS hosted the ‘In their Shoes’ Charity lunch, a 40 mile cycle for staff and a 400 mile cycle from Whitehead to Cork in aid of the charity Hope House Ireland.
Along with the support of many different businesses and friends, MIS raised a massive £145,000 for the charity. This enabled the charity to purchase their own house in Brown’s Bay mortgage free!
Over the past 2 years, there has been a lot of hard work put in to making Hope House as comfortable and relaxing as possible in order to host individuals and families who have been affected by cancer diagnosis. Hope House provides complimentary, self-catering accommodation to allow those affected to rest and recuperate in the gorgeously scenic Brown’s Bay. MIS have not only helped by raising money but our staff have kindly helped out with the manual labour side of things too, helping to paint, garden and build furniture.
Hope House is a charity close to the heart of MIS and was one which we started to fundraise for following the diagnosis of our late Managing Director, Alan Bailie. The MIS family felt the effects that a family can feel when a loved one is diagnosed by cancer and so we have continued to fundraise in the memory of Alan. Hope House Ireland have kindly named their neighbouring lodge ‘The Alan Bailie Lodge’ and construction work is due to begin this week in order to allow more guests to be welcomed. This is something we hope to work closely with Hope House on, as it means so much to us, not only because of Alan but sadly because other members of our staff have also been diagnosed recently. They have availed from the service Hope House offers for themselves and their families for some much needed relaxation and we want to continue to assist Hope House in providing this indispensable help to others too.
We hope you can join us on this virtual walk and thank you for your support!
