Story
Can a traditionally built, middle aged sofa-hound walk 34 miles of rough terrain from Frodsham to Whitchurch in one day? Heck, yeah!
After a well deserved telling off from my GP about the consequences of my gluttony and sloth, I decided that 2020 would be the year I change my ways. So, since New Year I've been out walking daily in all weathers, and every weekend I've been trudging ever-greater mileages (thank heaven for podcasts and waterproof clothing!).
I knew I'd soon give up if I didn't make myself accountable to a good cause and give myself a goal to aim for. Autism Initiatives is my chosen charity thanks to my good friend Ed Green's inspiring stories of the wonderful work they do for neurodiverse youngsters and adults. Despite blisters, bunions and painful feet, I'm keeping it up because I can't let Autism Initiatives down, and every week takes me another few miles closer to that 34-mile goal.
So, please spur on your chubby old mate a bit further and slip me a few quid in aid of this lovely charity. And why not keep me company for a few miles on the day? I'll put up regular progress updates throughout the day so you'll know where to catch me on the route. My mate Mark Jones is doing the whole thing with me and lots of other friends are joining in for a few miles at a time. And of course there'll be beers aplenty in Whitchurch at the end!
