I'm running what is considered to be Britain's hardest half marathon on Saturday 21st June (i.e. soon), and thought it would be a good idea to see if I could get a little sponsorship for my favourite charity, the World Land Trust, in so doing.
The Midsummer Munro takes place in Surrey and involves a half-marathon distance of just over 13 miles with the 'madness' being the 'munro' element - 3,000 feet of 'climb' over the length of the course, equivalent to climbing a munro (a mountain in Scotland of 3,000 feet or more in height). So it ain't gonna be quick and it ain't gonna be easy, and therefore any sponsorship incentive I can have to get round will be very much appreciated.
Information about the race can be found here: http://www.trionium.com/mm/
And info about the World Land Trust can be found just to the left, and also on their website at: http://www.worldlandtrust.org/
Update: race completed on Saturday, and what an evil 13 miles it was. Almost no flat parts, having to run twice up 600 steps cut into a steep slope (and 380 steps elsewhere), leaping fallen trees on small dirt tracks through woods, and some slopes so steep you couldn't run down them, let alone back up them. I now feel I have earned the right to ask for some sponsorship. But the views, support and organisation were great.
Cheers,
Dave.
