Story
The Poppy Fields Charity was set up by a grateful family who wanted to show their appreciation to Birmingham Children's Hospital for saving their daughters life. Their aim was to raise £1000. 10 years on they have raised £202,000, all of which has been used to help children suffering with brain cancer receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
My niece, Poppy, was the reason the charity was founded. Back in March 2004 Poppy was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given a 50/50 chance of surviving her first brain surgery. She has since undergone more surgery, intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
The money raised is funding vital research into causes and cures for childhood brain cancer.
Please help us to continue to make a difference, no matter how small the donation, every bit really does help.
This will be my first marathon (and probably my last!). My objective will be to simply complete the race...I'm not going for a world record. As with all the events I do, it'll be thoughts of Poppy and other children who are suffering with this terrible illness that make me determined to finish regardless of what pain I may be suffering myself.
Go on, dig deep! Thank you for your continued support, you are all amazing. Visit www.poppyfieldsbch.co.uk for more information.
