Story

This Autumn, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise much needed and much appreciated funds for Stickler Syndrome.

Stickler Syndrome is a genetically inherited condition which affects around 1 in 8,000 newborns but is widely unknown due to it being difficult to diagnose. Symptoms range in scale but hugely impacts hearing, sight and joint movement and flexibility. There is no cure for Stickler Syndrome and management is coordinated across a number of different medical professionalisms. As a result, although relatively common, Stickler Syndrome remains grossly under-diagnosed in the UK.

This charity hopes to change that by raising awareness, promoting the need for early diagnosis for the best management, providing information about the extreme visual and aural problems associated with the condition and providing a support network for those affected by it.

One of my closest friends, her daughter and her sister has Stickler Syndrome. I have seen first hand the support they have received from charities like Stickler Syndrome UK and I’m honoured to be able to give something back in their name.

No amount is too small and every donation will be of huge benefit. Thank you so much for any support you’re able to offer.
