Story
You've come this far, might as well read on...
Most of my close friends will already know that I have tried twice to run a marathon. Twice injury has prevented me from getting to the all important start line and I was devastated on both occasions. But I've spent the last two years trying to be smarter about my training. This has included working with a personal/punishing trainer in the last 12 months. So, now I mean business.
I'm running for Addaction, which as you know is a charity that my husband David has raised over six grand for in the last few years in memory of his cousin Tommy. Tommy died from an addiction related illness. He was so young and his loss had a profound effect on David.
The work Addaction does is so important in helping people with addiction problems turn their lives around. Addiction is an illness, yet sadly as a society we treat addicts like criminals, which is counter productive and cruel. Please help me to support their fantastic work by donating what you can.
2015 will be pretty special because after several years of first attempting this together, finally I'll be running London alongside my best mate, Beth Green. It's gonna be emotional.
Consider this also a sponsored silence. I know my long-suffering friends have had to listen to me harp on about running for years. I know I'm a bore. I just can't help it - you see you are all too kind and feign interest for just long enough for me to shoehorn running into the conversation. But I promise if you sponsor me, I'll shut up. Honest.
